Question

stimulus payment - 2018 tax filed with spouse ITIN but 2019 filed with spouse SSN

I have query regarding my stimulus package amount. I have not received stimulus payment yet. When I check the status , it is showing "Payment status" is not available. one reason for not receiving stimulus payment is that I filed 2018 tax with my spouse ITIN but now I have filed 2019 tax with my spouse SSN on 04/27.

As IRS already processed stimulus payment based on 2018 so will IRS reconsider me for stimulus payment based on 2019 tax filed? Do I need to take any action to inform to consider me based on 2019 tax file?

Please clarify.

First of all, if you have not already done so, you need to send the IRS a letter informing them of the new SSN, so that they can associate your spouse’s records in their system. Use the instructions found in FAQ #12 on this page.

then, there is nothing else you can do at this time. The IRS is processing payments in batches, and they may pay yours eventually.  As best I understand, the credit will be recalculated on the 2020 tax return as well.  If you qualify more at that time then you receive now, the extra would be added to your refund. So in the end I don’t think you lose out, even if you don’t receive the full amount this month.

    Thanks for your response.

Can I submit letter at any local IRS office once local office opens? or I need to send via mail only.
