Submitting Tax Return and W-7 In Person at Local IRS Office

I’m planning to submit my tax return in person at a local IRS office to ensure it doesn’t get lost or face issues where the IRS claims they didn’t receive it. Along with the tax return, I also have a W-7 form for my daughter’s ITIN application. I printed the tax returns using Turbotax Deluxe.

I have already had the W-7 form signed by a certified acceptance agent, so I don’t need in-person verification at the IRS office. I’ve heard that if you submit in person, the IRS provides an acknowledgment of receipt, which is why I prefer to do it this way rather than mailing it.

If anyone has experience with this process, especially related to submitting the W-7 form or receiving acknowledgment, I’d appreciate your input.

There is no doubt you will receive an acknowledgement if you take the return to a local IRS office. You can also mail it using certified mail which requires a signature upon delivery. It's really what you prefer to do.
