Tax on vehicle sale
If my vehicle is registered in Texas but I sold it in California, to which state should I pay the sales tax?
Sales tax is paid in the state in which the transaction occurs or the persons home state depending on the state. However, if you sold a vehicle as an individual, you would not withhold or pay sales tax. Sales tax is paid by the purchaser not the seller.
