Tax return filing email confirmations for an unknown person

Greetings,

I'm getting emails from TurboTax for tax return filing and acceptance by federal and state in the last several days. However, the name in those emails isn't mine. I didn't use TurboTax in the past two years. I accessed my account and found no tax returns. Instead the system asked if I want to start my 2024 return.

The emails are genuine because all links in them are actually for intuit.com. There's no phishing buttons or links there.

How can it be possible that someone filed tax returns with TurboTax and I'm getting all confirmations for that person?

The person who filed those tax returns made an error entering their email address, and the incorrect email address that they entered happened to match yours.

Thank you. I must've forgotten that TurboTax asks for an email before filing. I probably never paid attention to this step.
