Tax Returns Questions for Future Reference

Hello,I want to ask several questions for future reference. I am a full-time student holding an F-1 visa and I don't have any income, but I pass the Substantial Presence Test, so I am now a U.S resident with tax purposes. I will be graduating this year and returning to my home country next year, 2022. So, I have to file tax returns for 2021 even though I don't have any incomes BUT, what about 2023? In 2023, do I have to file tax returns for 2022 even though I no longer live in the U.S?

After I file tax returns for 2021 and come back to my country permanently, can I delete my TurboTax account? If I delete my TurboTax account, I no longer have to file tax returns, is it correct?

Yes, F-1 Visa students must file their taxes every tax year.  You should file for each year that you were present in the US.

After you file your last tax return, you can clear data in your TurboTax account:

  1. Sign in to TurboTax
  2. Select Intuit Account on the left.
  3. Now select Data & privacy on the left.
  4. Select Continue in the Delete section and then follow the screens to delete your data. If you want to delete data from any other Intuit Accounts, you'll be able to do that one account at a time. We'll walk you through it.
