Tax Year Prior to 2020: I did not think to change my account information and need to change that because the account on file is not longer an account, How do I do that?

I am assuming you mean you needed to update your bank information on your return. You are able to do that as long as you have not filed your returns yet. If you have already filed your returns, you are not able to update the information on the return. The IRS and/or your state will try to deposit your refund, or draft the amount due from the account. If they are unable, the will mail your refund check to you or send a letter with the amount owed.

To update your information:

1. Login to your account

2. Click the file tab

3. Work through the prompts, you will get to a screen that asks how you want to receive your refund, click direct deposit. The next screen is where you can update/add the new information. Please make sure you go through the state filing and that the bank information there is correct as well.
