Question

Tax Year Prior to 2020: If you have an occasional babysitter that does not meet the Household Employee income minimum, do you still have to obtain an EIN?

Doesn't apply to me 2016 but will be in 2017. Curious - how would the babysitter report the income? Would I have to provide a W2 even though it doesn't meet the minimum?

No, if she doesn't meet the requirements, there is no need.  Also, she will report the income as self-employment income on her tax return.
