Tax Year Prior to 2020: Taxes using I-Tin

My husband is in the process of getting his immigration status fixed and in the past he has been filing taxes with his I-Tin number. Once his status is fixed, he will then be given a Social Security Number. Would we be able to file our 2018 taxes with the new social, or would he need to file with his I-Tin number?

He will file with his Social Security Number once it is assigned.
