Question

Tax Year Prior to 2020: Why was my return excepted for 158 federal and 348 state. Theirs saying I owe 158 why was it excepted as a return if I owe?

When you e-file your return with TurboTax, acceptance or rejection by the IRS does not depend on whether you have a refund or you have a balance due. You will have to make arrangements to pay the balance due.

Did you look carefully at your tax form?  A federal refund is shown on line 20 . Tax due is in line 23.
