Hi,

Somehow this year I have to mail my return to IRS. When I download the filed return it only gives me one PDF file which has both state and federal. Now which pages should I send to state and federal? or should I send the whole document to both state and federal. I live in minnnesota.

Thanks.

The federal form is Form 1040. So the federal tax return will start with that page and continue through for several pages, depending on the complexity of your tax return.

MN form is MN-1 and looks like this. You can include everything starting with that page in the envelope. And as taxlady28 said, include your federal tax return with the state as well.

You can also print your federal tax return only first. Then print your state return. Here is an FAQ that may help.

Send federal only to IRS

Send state and federal to IRS with state on top of the forms, then federal

Sign everywhere needed in ink
Include copies of W-2, 1099 and any other form used

Mail with a service that give you a receipt and and way to see that it was received.

The question is which one is state and which one is federal?
