Question

The deadline for the second stimulus was the 15th, are people still going to receive their payments or do they have to claim it?

If you did not receive a stimulus payment, you will have to claim it as part of your 2020 income tax return.

As you said @DLassiter09, January 15 was the IRS deadline for sending out payments. It’s possible a check may still be in the mail or held up at the bank, but if you did not receive your second stimulus by now, you will need to file a tax return to get your payment.

Go to the IRS’ Get My Payment to check the status of your stimulus if you have not received it.

So the email that was sent out about payments being sent towards the end of the month was inaccurate?

You can't file until Feb12 anyway.

If your income is up, you want to wait for EIP#3 before filing (assuming IRS has found you previously).
