Question

The home and business software shows me getting the standard deduction however my itemized amounts are higher. Is this a software bug?

First, your Schedule C (business) deductions don't count towards the Schedule A (personal) ones when  determining if the Standard (personal) Deduction is higher.

Second, there are caps (such as property tax) and other limits (e.g., medical) on certain Schedule A itemized deductions.  So you can't just go by the gross figures.

I'm not even using a Schedule C and my Schedule A doesn't go over 10,000 for taxes I paid.  The final Schedule A total that is on line 17 is supposed to carry to the 1040 line 12 and it doesn't.  Did I miss something?

How much is your schedule A itemized deductions?  How much is on 1040 line 12?  Maybe the Standard Deduction plus the extra $300 for Charity on line 10b is more than your itemized deductions.
