I electronically filed on 4/8/21 and had my tax billed scheduled to be debited on 4/12 and nothing. It was been over 12 days now and after calling they don't have any real answers. I was basically told to pay with directpay and if the original payment ever goes through request a refund. My payment is in the thousands and I am not happy about this option. I just do not get what the hang-up is.
In a normal season, the IRS will debit your account on the date you specified or soon after. We have had several reports of the IRS not debiting accounts on the scheduled date. Just be patient -- the IRS will take your money!

I checked my returns and so not have page 1 that shows how you paid like I did in 2019? I did Enter all my account information and select a date to be taken out. I believe there is a mistake with TurboTax and it did not register my payment are you able to assist?
I'm in the same situation as you for an amended return I just efiled via TurboTax. No way to tell if they recorded my direct debit information since it is not shown on the 1040X Amended tax form at all. Not sure why Turbo Tax would not show this critical direct debit information on the pdf form to ensure it was processed correctly. Did Turbo Tax forget to include this info for amended returns or is there another place to check for amended tax returns and if direct debit was successfully process via TurboTax?
April 4th 2021 - return accepted & payment scheduled for April 8th 2021. April 22nd 2021 - IRS debited the account.
Thank you to all the Turbo Tax Tax Experts and staff whom provided accurate expert information regarding this issue. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the IRS as I received so much misinformation on this topic. Really sad the level of poor quality information from the IRS help lines.
Thanks to the all the Turbo Tax users whom provided status updates on their specific situations.
I have used Turbo Tax to file my taxes for over 10 years and will continue to do so in the future.
I am having the same questions as many of the posters from last year. I was expecting the IRS to debit my account immediately, but it's been 2 days and the money has not been transferred. From some of the posts last year, it sounds like it could take a week to 10 days. So, I will just wait for a week or so.
I was one who waited for many weeks last year before the IRS finally deducted my payment. If I were you, would not worry just yet. Most banks put your debit in a “pending” status when they first receive the debit request from the IRS (or from any direct payment request). If you can, check your bank status to see if it is “pending”. For what it is worth, my payment this year was more timely. On the same day I authorized the payment, my bank showed it as pending. Again, that is not deducted, but in the queue to be deducted and will be deducted in a few days. Hope that helps.
It worked today. Not that I really wanted to pay my taxes, but it's better than going to jail. My return was accepted on March 30 and the debit happened on April 1, so 2 days. Not bad. Thanks to other posters for the information.
If you amended the return before the original return had fully processed then that could be the delay in the debit since they will not even look at the amended return for weeks or months.
