Question

The system is calculating more credit than I paid in taxes.

Income was only $3800. I paid $348 in taxes but the standard deduction is creating a $1,400 credit

Did you enter that you did not receive the $1,400 third stimulus payment?  If so, this is the credit you are getting.  Be sure you did not receive it before claiming this or your refund will be delayed while the IRS adjusts your return.
