Question

The system said that I owed $846 which may be because I had to file late. On top of that, the amount of $846 was withdrawn but the system says I owe $127

So it looks like the system withdrew the $846 from my account but didn’t notify the government. So not it looks like I still owe and my actual return has yet to be sent. Using Turbo Tax this year may have been a mistake on my part.

TT does not actually pay your taxes. Rather, it forwards the payment information to the government, who must then pull the payment.  Just send the IRS (or State) proof of the withdrawal.

So what address do I use to contact them? It’s always so convoluted when I try to contact them. So can you let me know exactly how to contact them?

any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

Please explain where it looks like "the system" withdrew money----did money come out of your bank account or was there a charge on your credit card?    TurboTax does not pay your tax due; the only thing TT does is pass along your information to the IRS or to some states and then the IRS or the state takes out your payment.   TT never knows how, when or even if you paid your tax due.

And where is it saying you owe more?   Where are you seeing the information you are referring to?   Remember we cannot see your screen or your account.

And you are saying you did not file yet.   ("....my actual return has yet to be sent..." )   What return?   Your tax return?   You cannot owe tax and get a refund on the same tax return form.     What all have you done?   Did you try to e-file?   Was it rejected?

Please provide some details because the things you are saying are confusing and are not quite making sense to us.

Understand that when you owe taxes to any taxing authority, be it the IRS, state, or other, TurboTax does not act as a middleman in that transaction. There are no exceptions to this. So if money was taken out of a bank account or charged to your credit card, it's because you (or someone else with your financial information) gave that taxing authority permission to do so.

So is this a charge to your credit card? Or to a bank account? Exactly how does it show up on your statement?
