Question

The wait time at the IRS is at least 2-3 buinsess days currently. Is there another way to confirm if my accountant filed my extension?

Yes---ask your accountant.

Did your accountant explain to you that an extension only gives you extra time to file your tax return--not extra time to pay?  Did you pay your estimated tax due on or before July 15, 2020?  If not, your interest and penalties are adding up with or without an extension.    If you have no tax due or will be getting a refund you did not even need an extension.  If you are getting a refund you have three years to file the return; there is not a penalty for filing after the deadline if you are getting a refund.

Did you pay anything to the IRS when the extension was supposed to be filed?  Has money come out of your account?
