There is a MASSIVE amount of "other income" showing in my summary but I can't find where it is. It's not showing in my income section. I'm at a loss.

almost a million dollars in "other income" is appearing and it says I owe $314,000 in taxes. I assure you I didn't earn any other income than what I put in and I can't find it in the system to correct. It's driving me nuts!

Ok, this is helpful. When I preview it shows that I have “RTAA income” of 972,779 on line 8-z of my Schedule 1. Obviously I didn’t get this. I don’t see where I can change this. Any ideas?

Yes, that comes from a Form 1099-G. That form is used to report various payments from government agencies like state tax refunds, unemployment, and taxable grants.

Here's how to get rid of it:

Sign in to TurboTax.
Select Deductions & Credits.
In the left-side menu, select Tax Tools, then Tools.
Select Delete a form, from the list in the pop-up window.
Check the list for Form 1099-G (Untitled), select Delete next to the form. If you have a 1099-G that belongs in your tax return, you will need to either delete it and then re-enter the form, or figure out which one belongs there.
Confirm your Delete, select Continue.
Select Continue with my return.

Next, make sure your return contains just the income it should by reviewing the return using JohnB5677's instructions.

I understand that is what it should do. But it doesn’t. When I review what I have input it only shows my W-2 income and a 1099. And then it says I owe $314,000 and when I ask it why it says it’s because of my X income from W-2s and 1099s plus $972,000 in “other income” and I promise I have entered no other income. I even cleared the entire return and started over and it replicated the error.

Huge numbers like that are usually the result of some decimal point error on an entry. Perhaps for a State Refund from last year that transfers from last year as Federally-taxed income.

Another strange issue someone had was that they were in Europe, and had set their computer to a Regional setting (Germany in that case). When a computer is NOT set to a USA regional setting, and is set for a European country.....depending on the EU country, they use decimals and commas there differently (like they use a Comma before the cents, and periods as thousands separators) and that totally confuses the USA-Set software, resulting in very strange and huge numbers that weren't actually intended in some areas, while not in others.
