I have been using   TurboTax for many, many years.

It seems that TurboTax is getting worse year after year.
Customer support is the worst. They email your issues to behind-the-scenes tech person who answers and try to guess your problem. What waste of time.

Today I wasted 2 hours and 24 minutes on the phone with a bunch of customer service people who were apparently just trying to guess what might be wrong. Each of them had me do all the same things the others had, over and over again.

After 2 hours and 24 minutes we all gave up. That time is in addition to the 25 minutes it took me to get someone on the phone in the first place, along with all the time I wasted trying to get the program to run over several days before I gave up and called.

BTW, TurboTax  won't allow you to process payment to download additional state

So. After all these years I can no longer use TurboTax?

This level of customer service and disrespect for the customer's time is, quite frankly and quite honestly, the worst I have ever seen. Extremely disappointing.

Had the same problem here.  I'm running Win11pro on an Alienware PC with enough power to handle anything.  Everything updated to the latest drivers, no conflicts or anything like that.  It's a clean machine in tiptop shape.

Installed TT Home&Business, did the updates as it always does.  Most all of the inputs on personal income was nothing but a white screen with the spinning wheel next to the cursor.

Killed all Intuit processes in task manager & restarted program - no difference.
Switched users and switched back - no difference.

Ran in administrator mode - no difference.
Ran in compatibility mode - no difference.

One thing I did notice was that I could not open Google Chrome (which is also the latest version) while the TurboTax program was running.  I had to completely reboot my machine and then open Chrome first before starting the TurboTax software.

That seemed like a hokey workaround, but at least it is working for now... at least with my fiasco.

I fought this for 2 days, I entered 6  1099-R forms, none were duplicates but TT would not let me beyond this page, saying there were duplicate 1099-R forms.  I called support, they had no idea how to correct the problem & told me file manually by mail.  After reading many posts by TT users I tried everything that was suggested because TT would not let me beyond the error page saying "duplicate 1099-R.     Here is what I did and it worked:

    1)  slightly change the name of the financial institution or break up the address in the two lines on the form of

         1099-R's from the same institution.

    2)  change the amount of your distribution by a few cents, if you received $2500.  change it to $2499.75

    3)  enter a date in box 13

    4) enter an account # on the form

    5) change the last digit of the zip code so it looks like a different financial institution, these will have no effect

           on your form

    6)  go to box 16, the state distribution & enter the same amount as you entered above in box 1

After doing all these things, TT accepted my 1099-R forms, I don't know which ones really mattered, but do

them all just to be sure.  I filed electronically, everything was accepted.

My issue was paying for state filing and it charged my credit card but the software glitched and now it wants me to pay again with similar results.  Tried calling support but apart from starting over on a different Mac with a clean install and paying again there does not seem to be straightforward solution.

    March 22, 2025

When paying for state filing, a payment window opens where you enter your payment data.  Once the payment is accepted, the window closes and you're back in TurboTax.

It sounds like you're not making a clean connection with the billing servers.  Have you tried disabling your anti-virus programs?  Here's How to Turn Off Anti-Virus Programs.

If you Contact TurboTax Support and give 'billing' as your reason for the call, you can get a refund of duplicate charges.

It needed a software update. I use a Mac and already had my anti-virus software and pop-ups disabled. It worked fine after the update and recognized my first payment.

I am a long time customer, and I can't get any help. The software is just not processing the information correctly this year.  This is the worse year I have ever had!!

It is reporting funds paid to me from my W2 from my state as taxes I paid to the state.  Thus it thinks I am due a refund when more likely I owe.  Not sure I trust its calculation of my taxes..

    Please clarify your question.

    • Please give more detail on what is going on.
    • What is going on with the W-2?
    • What are the state issues?

Please contact us again to provide some additional details.

As a TurboTax user for, possibly, 35 years, it is incredible to find that there is no way to correct my error in indicating that one1099-B showed E and F check marks when those should have shown D. Neither deletion of the entire investment and redoing it nor a restart changes anything. Clearing the cache is recommended as a fix, but at this time I hope to find a different method lest I lose opportunity to revisit a cached site I failed to note elsewhere in some online research.

I'm a very long-time user. The downloaded return this year stinks as compared with previous years. I can't even delete a return that I started and want to erase, because I was all the sudden having $600 million in income and couldn't fix it.

There just is no way to put the situation nicely.

If you are using desktop software (is that what you mean by "downloaded return?"), there are a couple of ways to delete a *.tax2024 data file that is no longer needed.     Are you using Windows or Mac?   I can tell you 2 ways to delete the unneeded file in Windows.  I don't use a Mac, so someone else would have to tell you how to delete an unneeded *.tax2024 data file in that platform.

Or did you use Online TurboTax (via a web browser) by mistake instead of your installed desktop software?  We have occasionally seen that happen to a few users.  In Online TurboTax if you have paid or registered, you can't use the feature "Clear and Start Over."

The software doubled my salary,  I had to do an override to correct, which the error checker said it was an error.  Then on Schedule C, step by step the question is asked about the name of the business, then it says, leave blank if there is not a name.  I left blank, once again Turbo says that it is an error.  Having to mail by tax form.  I thought about including a cover letter to the IRS about all the problems that TurboTax has.  I to have been a long time user.

    April 8, 2025

Beware...I already efiled several weeks ago and have received an IRS CP11 stating that I OWE +$1,113!  I've been on the phone with both IRS and Turbotax, without yet, a resolution. I was promised a call back from Turbotax and am hoping it comes today. I am astounded and have never had this problem with TT in prior years.  I will update with the resolution, however, IRS said it looked like income figures were noted then dropped. The kind IRS agent that I spoke too, for over an hour yesterday, said none of the figures add up properly and it looks like TT dropped some of the income after stating it in the beginning. She and I were both frustrated.

Very concerning....and I have never had a problem with Turbotax prior to this. I will update with the resolution.

Was supposed to get a refund within 21 days of over $4600, instead after 28 days the IRS sent a notice stating that instead of a refund, we have over $4100 tax due.  We found that TurboTax had listed as "0" the taxable amount of our joint Social Security Benefit.  When I talked to them, they seemed to say that the error was due to my entry.  I have done my own taxes every year using TurboTax and have never has an issue until this year.  Customer Support for this issue has been terrible.  I thought they would at least refund my $249 TurboTax fees, but they did not offer.
