TN visa married tax return

Hi I'm a TN visa worker, can I file my tax return as married filing separately so that my spouse does not have to file for ITIN?
My spouse does not generate income so I would assume it is the same if I either file as filing jointly or separately. Am I correct?
Thank you in advance!

Yes, that is correct. Be sure to indicate in your return that your wife is a non-resident alien when select that you are filing Married Filing Separately in the my info section of the return so that it won't ask what her Social Security number or ITIN is.

Here is a snapshot what that screen looks like.
