Hello, I am having issues with my e-file, and I am getting an error message."

We're having trouble detecting your transmission. Let's troubleshoot.
First, wait five minutes and then select Check Status below. If your status is Filed, your transmission was successful, and you can continue.
If your status shows no returns were transmitted, please try transmitting again. Continue through the screens to confirm your e-file choices and select the Transmit button.
If you get the same "Transmission Trouble" message, try coming back in an hour or two to transmit again.
I've made several attempts, and had this issue for day. When I reached out to Customer Service, the agent informed me i should keep trying. I also reached out via chat with no explanation.
I also have done some troubleshooting: restarting my taxes, re-uploading my W2's, waiting the 5 minutes to 2 hours and coming back to TurboTax. I have even submitted at 3 AM.  is there any possible solution?

Try closing TurboTax, clear your Cache and Cookies, and reopen TurboTax.

For a handful of people getting this error, the cause is special characters in your email address.  To change your email address, follow these steps:

  • Select Intuit Account on navigation menu.
  • Intuit Account Management opens in a new tab. Select on Sign in & Security.
  • Select the Email address field to edit.
  • Enter new email address in both fields and select Save.
    • Avoid special characters like ‘, #, * in the email address.
  • After verifying the email address, return to the TurboTax tab. Select Tax Home.
    • Alternatively, if they see File in the navigation bar, select that to go to Finish & File directly.
  • In Tax Home, navigate to Review and file and select Finish and file.
  • Click on the action button associated with Step 1.
    • If they paid with credit card, select View your receipt.
    • If they paid with Refund Transfer, select Revisit.
  • Navigate through/follow the steps from there to finish filing

If filing an Extension, follow these steps:

  • Select Intuit Account on navigation menu.
  • Intuit Account Management opens in a new tab. Select on Sign in & Security.
  • Select the Email address field to edit.
  • Enter new email address in both fields and select Save.
  • Refresh the Easy Extension webpage and confirm their email is correct on this screen (image)
