Trying to understand why do my application say I have to pay for my California taxes if I don’t owe anything so why am I being charged for taxes if I don’t owe anything

To check the details of your tax return, while in TurboTax, follow these steps:

Select Tax Tools on the left hand side of your screen,
Select Tools,
Select View Tax Summary,
Select Preview my State Tax Summary on the left hand side of your screen.

If you haven't filed your return yet, you can change anything in TurboTax by going to where you entered your data and selecting Edit.
