TT FAQ answer different than IRS pub 501

In your TT FAQ titled “Do I need to file my own taxes if I'm a dependent?” one of the requirements to file is if:

-Your gross income (earned plus unearned) exceeds the larger of $1,300 or your earned income (up to $14,200) plus $400.

However, in IRS Pub. 501 (2024), Table 2 (page 4), the requirement is if:

  1. Your gross income was more than the larger of: a. $1,300, or b. Your earned income (up to $14,150) plus $450.

Why is TT FAQ different from the IRS publication?  Is this an error that needs to be corrected in TT?  My son in college is at gross income of $2,046 > earned income + $400 ($2,003) based on TT FAQ.  But he is at gross $2,046 < earned + $450 ($2,053) based on IRS pub 501.  So TT indicates he needs to file, but according to IRS table he does not.

Which is it?  Does TT need to correct this?  Please help!

I tested it in the TurboTax program and it appears that the TurboTax program is properly applying the $450 amount to earned income.

I have reported that the FAQ needs to be updated to be the same as the IRS Publication.
