TT2022 State and Local Tax Refund Summary has wrong amount for Illinois State Refund

For TT2022, under "State and Local Tax Refund Summary" it has a pre-filled value saying that for the state of Illinois for Year 2021, I had a Refund Amount of $79.   When, in fact, I owed/paid $69 to Illinois in 2021.

Where is it getting this value?   I pulled up my TT2021 program and it still shows I owed/paid $69 so I don't understand why it says I had a $79 state refund in 2022.

Thanks, Rich

I'm not sure why the refund is showing the wrong amount. However, it would likely only impact your tax return if it was taxable on your federal return, which would only happen if you itemized your deductions on your federal tax return in the previous year. If it was taxable on your federal tax return, it would appear on line 1 of Schedule 1 of your form 1040. You can look on that line to insure it is not showing as taxabe as follows:

You can view your form 1040 and schedules 1 to 3 while working in the online version of TurboTax by following these steps:

    1. Click on Tax Tools in the left menu bar
    2. Click on Tools
    3. Look under Other Helpful links….
    4. Choose View Tax Summary
    5. Look in the left menu bar and choose Preview my 1040
    6. Scroll down the page to see form 1040 and schedules 1 to 3
