Turbo Tax 2024 Investments display window changes

I've noticed in Turbo Tax Premier 2024, when I go to...

Wages and Income/I'll choose what I work on/
then Selecting the Update button for either Interest or Dividends ....the resulting
window shows BOTH interest and dividends with the title
"Let’s finish pulling in your investment income".

And it's in a much less user friendly format than in previous years.

Each investment is displayed in a large box.  I have a LOT of 1099's and having
the investments displayed in this format is confusing and also the fact that BOTH

interest and dividends are displayed in this window. I'm wondering WHY this
change was made, as the previous years list was specific to either interest or dividends

and was much more concise.

I am adding a comment to emphasize the importance of this issue.  I agree with all of the negative comments but hope the more comments the more attention I hope the issue will receive.  I have been using Turbo Tax for over 25 years, and this is the only time I have been disappointed with the newest version.  I'm not sure what the point of the additional graphic screen is but it certainly has not improved my user experience.  I do returns for myself and family members.  We have different use cases, including interest, dividends and investment activity.  The new GUI has made every return more difficult and confusing.

I carry forward the previous year data into the current year then import a variety of w2, bank and brokerage data.  In every case the imported data ignored the carry forward entry and created a new record.  I then had to use the "new, improved GUI" to delete the duplicate 0 value entries.

Eventually, I seem to find myself at a familiar interface and can review and edit in a familiar way.  I'm not sure how I get there and frequently find myself returned to the new GUI despite doing my best to avoid it.

Making it pretty or more like the online version does not make it more useful.  Do yourself and your users a favor and remove the new GUI.  It serves no purpose, adds no value and is only interfering with the products functionality.

Does anyone know how to get this (negative) feedback to Intuit? It seems unlikely that they're reading these forums.

2025 format for turbotax sucks.  these big boxes are clunky and difficult.  if you delete or edit it moves you to top and you have to search for what you were working on.  can we please have the better list format back?

This is the WORST version ever!!    NOT user friendly at all!   Why change a good thing.

I have a new grip about the interest/dividens UI (as if there weren't enough).

I am unable to enter/see details about entries while in the new UI.  I have to leave and go to forms mode, find the particular payer, and then see details.  I have some 1099 where they separate the interest into each account.  In the past, I would (in the interest UI) just right click on additional details, and then enter each account and have them added up.  Now I need to go to a different interface completely.  It means entering data is more tedious and error prone.  It also means when I do a second and third pass to make sure I entered the numbers correctly, I also have to exit out.

    Ugh!

I’m thinking there may be thousands of TT users that have used it for 20+ years (like me) that are very disgusted and annoyed that TT decided to change the UI this year.  I’m thinking it’s because they want to sell the new assistance service for $60.  Anyone agree?

Someone mentioned this before, but it bears repeating.  The new Interests/Dividends/Stock UI ALWAYS goes back to the top.  So if I'm working on a bunch of entries at the end of the alphabet, I need to

    1) make my changes

    2) go back to the top

    3) scroll down mutiple pages

    4) remember where I left off <difficult if there are several accounts with similar names>

    5) make updates and repeat

Before, if I had N 1099, it would take O(N) time.  Now it takes O(N*N) time.  This is a complete waste!

Agreed!  The “new and improved” interface looks like something from the new Krasnov administration. Maybe Doggie (DOGE) is behind the new and improved interface?

This new UI is absolutely terrible.  Intuit must not have done any UI testing with real users.  I've been a TurboTax Premier and business user for a long, long time.  Honestly when it brings up all those boxes I can make absolutely no sense of it.

I guess I'll have to switch to the forms view but why did I pay for TurboTax if I have do do that.

Posted before but to share how it went...

I found Forms mode pretty quick for INT/DIV input; 2023 carryover set up most of the worksheets, double-click in Schedule B grids to launch another or easily delete one from the menu.  Only recommend if you know all the adjustments to make (accrued interest, US Gov % etc) and don't need the interview guide.

One issue I did find was those checkboxes in the easystep for these adjustments are not triggered even if you input values in forms, no idea where the checkbox settings are stored, so my 1099s showed in yellow for review.  I went thru them all to set the checkboxes and get out of yellow just to make sure no issues down the road, and found if not set consistently would screw up the taxes even if values had been input.  Clearing this up would have been easy were it not for the annoying edit bug which sends you back to the top of the list, scroll scroll scroll...

There's also something going on with the state setup for munis which can cause all the interest to flow as state exempt if the "state ID where exempt interest was earned" isn't set correctly, which you would think would be your home state but seems it should be set to XX so I am not sure the point of this field.  I found this by setting it wrong in Forms and couldn't tie out my state tax; presumably this happens behind the scenes of EasyStep but there must be some way to get it to mess up as I've seen a couple of threads from people experiencing this from EasyStep.

1099-B setup wasn't as obvious to me and 2023 doesn't set anything up, so went back thru EasyStep to input those (detailed vs. summary etc) but then used forms mode for some tweaks (seems once you set up a 1099-B in the UI you can't rename the broker etc).

1099-OID hasn't been given the "makeover" yet so EasyStep worked fine.

All in all it was survivable and I would use Forms mode again for INT/DIV but really hope TT is listening to the feedback and will acknowledge and address this mess for 2025 unless they are trying to push everyone to online - but I'll do my taxes by hand before touching their online product.

It's TERRIBLE.  I hope they go back to the prior year's screen.  It's useless!  I can't see what my investments and what my husband holds.  I will SERIOUSLY consider going with another tax service next year.  Who came up with this horrible idea?  Probably someone who thinks that they need to change something for the sake of change.

DITTO.  All of us are complaining.

Does anyone from Intuit have an update? Is this problem being seriously considered to be fixed? Anyone from Intuit/Turbo Tax team?????

    March 25, 2025

The new interface is indeed confusing and causes unnecessary manual review. In addition the account abbreviation at the top of the box is of no use if you have more than one account at the same broker. I downloaded all DIV/INT data on five accounts but because the 1099s came from a different address than the 2023 imported info I now have ten boxes to deal with. I’ve spent more time trying to figure out which boxes to work with and which ones to delete than I spent on a first draft of my 2023 return. The new design is very frustrating.
