Turbo tax charges

I don't understand why I am paying $120 for my federal return. I know I chose the least expensive package as my information is not complex. I tried in vain to get this changed before I filed but was not able to get anywhere. Last year, I paid $80 and that included my state taxes. What's going on? I could not find any place to write a note directly to turbo tax.

I am assuming here you are concerned by the cost of TT Software not your actual Tax Return which varies on your tax situation. It depends upon the product you picked. TT has multiple ones as you might have noticed. Take this for eg. https://www.walmart.com/ip/TurboTax-Deluxe-2020-Fed-Efile-State-PC-MAC-Disc/[social security number removed] is under $60 with a State Tax filing included. Different stores might have slightly different prices

I am a long time Turbo Tax user. Once you start a return, Turbo gives you options about which "package" you would like to do. And then constantly tries to up sell the packages. I don't know where along the way my package became the more expensive one but I couldn't get the program to show me why I was paying so much more. My taxes are quite simple - I would never choose the more detailed "package".
