Question

Turbo tax deleted all prior years of returns and will not transfer 2023 info to 2024 return

Can someone help with turbo tax erasing all my prior years of tax data.  I can not believe this happened but it did.  I downloaded 2024 software and it would not tranfer data from 2023. I have used Turbo Tax every year since 2012 and have done it this way every year with no problems. This year, everything is gone.  Fortunately, I printed off hard copies, but it won't even let me manually enter in the 1040 numbers without redoing all the worksheets to support that data.  This is a huge problem.  When you call Turbo Tax for help you get no answers.  I have been a loyal customer of Turbo Tax for all these years, but extremely frustrated by the lack of help to solve this problem.  Why would turbo tax do this?  It seriously makes no sense.

If you are using the Desktop software, and you suspect the files were deleted; check the Trash Bin on your computer.

You may be able to recover them from there.

If you are in the Online version, be sure that you are using the same ID that you have in previous years.

    Greetings,

I am so frustrated with Turbotax yet again!

I have been a loyal customer since around 2000, third time I have been unable to transfer prior year's (2023 this time) to present return -even though the software suggested it could.

Finally gave up and filed a new return.

Tubotax Advantage (Deluxe) treats me as if I am a new customer .  I am using the same ID I have had for over 20 years. The wasted hours I have expended, including calling support, have been quite expensive (am a cardiac surgeon) and nonproductive. I am very dissatisfied.

If my return is not transferred when I do next year's return, it will be my last with Turbotax for sure.
