Question

Turbo Tax has me in a endless loop because it is asking to fill in a line on form 1065 that is not on my K1. How can I get out of the loop?

It is specifically asking for another deduction that does not exist. My only deduction is from the Investment Club document fee of $36. Plus it will not accept zero on the line.

Which boxes are filled in on your K-1 and which box is TurboTax requiring an entry for?

    Boxes:  5, 6a, 6b, 9a, 13, 20, 21.

When it performs the check, it pulls up the 1065, various lines asking for deduction entries and interest.  I have been posting K1's for 15 years on TurboTax and it has never asked this question, plus it will not accept zero.  I gave up and printed the forms so I can mail the return because it will not let me E-file.  It also will not let me back in unless I start an amendment.  Is there another way to open the 2024 return without an amendment?

Yes, you can access your TurboTax return after filing using these steps:

Note that you are NOT actually changing your return - you are simply opening your return again so you have access to your entries.

    •  Log into TurboTax using the same username and password as you did before.
    •  Click on Tax Home from the menu on the left.
    •  Under Your tax returns & documents, select the current tax year, then click on Add a State.
    •  You now have access to your entire return. You may navigate using the tabs or Search box as you did while entering your information. Do NOT change anything, in case you do actually need to amend your return.

It would be helpful to have the exact wording of the SmartCheck message you received. A screenshot would also work. If you have already mailed your return, resolving this issue may not change what you sent to the IRS. In most cases, the missing information doesn't affect your taxable income.
