Please provide some details.   What was the error?

I can’t figure out what the problem is. It isn’t clear at all

You must have had 600 too much on 1040 line 30.  That could have been for the second Stimulus payment if you didn't already get it.  Did you get both the first and second rounds?  Maybe the second one came after you filed?  The IRS knows they already sent it to you.  But you tried to claim it again on your tax return.

I didn’t receive the second check and didn’t claim it. I believe this is my state return…CA.

@Quil244654 You cannot figure out what the problem is, but you think it is TurboTax's fault?   We cannot see your tax return so we do not know what mistake --if any--was made on your state return.   Before you jump to conclusions about what caused the error---you should identify the problem.  You "believe" it is the state return---are you even sure?   Did you receive a letter from the state?   Who is charging you over $600?

from your message, we can't even determine if the problem is with your federal or state return.  most likely in 2 or 3 weeks, you'll get an explanatory notice from the taxing agency. if you don't understand post back with the message and we'll try to provide more info.

Received IRS correspondence which indicates they received information from a third party which doesn't match

the information I provided on my 2019 return.  The third party was the Social Security Administration.  They are correct.  There was nothing listed in block 5a.  The SSA reported $18,402.  The IRS indicated a difference of

$15,542 taxable income which equated to $3,443 additional tax due.  Interest owed is $123.00.  Total due NLT 15 September 2021: $3,566.  I do not quibble over the taxes due.  But I would like an explanation on how the SSA data could be overlooked during the Turbo Tax process.  I have used your services for many years without incurring an error.  However, this omission is significant and requires explanation.  Thanks.   John M. Do you remember entering the SSA-1099?   Maybe you entered it in the wrong spot.  Better double check all the other lines if it got on the wrong line.

Did you use the Online version or the Desktop program?  Download your return with all the worksheets to look for it.

Any omission of an amount to be reported is because you did not enter it from your tax documents.
