Turbotax $45 charge

Why was I charged $45 bucks before I could efile? Heck, I paid for the Turbotax program at Staples.

What software program did you buy at Staples? Was it Deluxe? Staples sells Deluxe with or WITHOUT state software---so if you bought it without state software and then downloaded a state program you had to pay for it.

Or....did you make the mistake we sometimes see ---did you purchase the CD/download and then use online TurboTax software by mistake? Did you download the software, enter a license code and open the program from your own hard drive to use it?

We cannot see your screen or the software you used. Were the "tools" up on top of the screen---or were they on a black vertical column on the left side of your screen?

Sounds like you signed up for Turbotax Audit Defense which costs $45.

If you chose to have the $20 state filing charge deducted from your refund, there is a $45 charge. If you chose to pay the $20 charge by credit card there is no $45 charge. Choose "pay by credit card" and there will be no $45 charge.
