Question

TurboTax is trying to list my 1099-MISC in the Self-Employment section. Why is this happening and how can I change it?

Our 1099-MISC is unrelated to self-employment. It comes from a union related to my spouse's main job.

    After entering your 1099 when asked if it involved work that's like your main job, say no.  Then answer that it did NOT involve an intent to make money. This will have it reported as ordinary income instead of self-employment income.
