TurboTax says I can't e-file Calfornia without a W-2

I'm doing a trust return for my daughter (forms 1041/541) and TurboTax says I can't e-file in Calfornia without a W-2.   Specifically, it says "California Form 541, the line for California income tax withheld requires Form W-2 for Electronic Filing."

She's a kid. She doesn't work; she doesn't get a W-2.  We just have 1099s.   My paid tax preparer in the past never needed W-2s to e-file.  What is up?

The only way a trust return for CA can be e-filed while reporting income tax withholding is if there is a W2.  If you have input one or more 1099-s that had CA income tax withheld, you will need to print and mail the return.

Thanks.   Ran into it again this year, of course.

But nice to know I don't have to keep looking for a preferable answer.
