Question

TurboTax says I was self-employed

For some reason TurboTax has decided that I was self-employed this year and earned a total of $150. I'm not sure how to change this. I have only worked for my company this year. Any advice would be welcome. I've checked out other similar issues but so far no luck. Because of this little issue, I cannot file my taxes either.

Did you receive any 1099-MISC or 1099-NEC income in 2020, or possibly a 1099-K?

The only way TurboTax would "decide" you had self-employed income of $150 would be if you reported a 1099-MISC (or 1099-NEC or 1099-K) on your return.

You can remove this self-employment income,  by to deleting those 1009 forms (if there) as wellthe Schedule C and Schedule SE from your return.

See: How do I delete forms in TurboTax Online?

After deleting these forms, log out of the program. When you log back in, use the Delete a Form tool (List of Forms in My Return) to confirm the forms (and any associated worksheets)  have been removed from your return.
