In reviewing your return, I have found the error.  In the Mortgage Interest section of your Federal return, you have two entries.  I believe the first one is correct.  The second entry reports no Interest, only Real Estate Tax in the same amount as the first entry.  It was also checked as a 'Refinance'.  You can delete the second entry by  typing '1098' in the Search area, then click on 'Jump to 1098'.

This second entry is what populated a 0 on Schedule A, Line 8b, (Mortgages not reported on a 1098), which should be blank.  It also doubled the amount of Property Tax on Line 5b.

In FORMS mode, I deleted Schedule A and then went back through the Mortgage Interest screens again.  Schedule A no longer has the 0 on Line 8b, and there is no Review error for Minnesota pertaining to Schedule A.

    Thank you for your patience.

It would be helpful to have a TurboTax ".tax2022" file for the return that is experiencing this issue. Is Minnesota the only state return?

You can send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information.  If you would like to do this, here are the instructions for TurboTax Online

Go to the dark panel on the left side of your program and select Tax Tools.

    1. Then select Tools below Tax Tools.
    2. A window will pop up which says Tools Center.
    3. On this screen, select Share my file with Agent.
    4. You will see a message explaining what the diagnostic copy is.  Click okay through this screen and then you will get a Token number.
    5. Reply to this thread with your Token number. This will allow us to open a copy of your return without seeing any personal information.

We will then be able to see exactly what you are seeing, so we can determine what exactly is going on in your return and provide you with a resolution.

If you are using TurboTax Desktop, these are the instructions:

    1. Go to the top Menu Bar and select Online
    2. Select Send tax file to Agent.
    3. You will see a message explaining what the diagnostic copy is.  Click okay through this screen and then you will get a Token number.
    4. Reply to this thread with your Token number. This will allow us to open a copy of your return without seeing any personal information.

Token 1097643 created for diagnostic copy of my TurboTax Deluxe return experiencing  what appears to be a M1SA / Schedule A conflict.

I have no other state returns.

    Thank you.

I'm having the same issue...unable to file MN return electronically due to mortgage interest value on form M1SA.  I have no mortgage interest or points to report.  Showing blank on Federal Schedule A and zero on M1SA.  The error message says "Home mortgage interest should not have a value since federal Schedule A, lines 8b and 8c are blank.  I do I fix this and avoid filing printed MN tax return?

    Thanks.
