I have used turbo tax for years.  This year had to file an extension unable to file my taxes online.  Error message” A server problem occurred while processing the refund transfer. Please try to e-file again and if that fails contact customer service.”  Called customer service 10 times each time the person on the phone acts as if they never have heard of such issue. Tells me clear cookies reset browser go to print documents etc etc.  still unable to file.  No resolution by turbo tax.  This is there issue and it’s obviously wide spread based on all the comments.  Crazy how they still want me to pay for a service that isn’t working and they won’t fix even to print and mail.  Fix your problem turbo tax !!!!

Sounds very frustrating.   You mentioned "refund transfer"---if you were trying to pay your fees by having them deducted from your federal refund, you would not be able to file by mail.   You would have to pay the fees before you print and mail.  The fees are the same whether you e-file or mail it in an envelope.  The fee is for using the software to prepare the return; there is not an extra fee to e-file.

Did you ultimately pay the fees and file by mail or is your problem still unresolved?

Obviously I wouldn’t be able to have my turbo tax fees taken out of my return if I mailed it.  But thank you for the wonderful insight.  No the issue is not resolved hasn’t been for months.  The real question is what is turbo tax doing about there issue?   Has the IT department been taking a vacation since tax day?   Or are they even looking into the huge problem that so many people are addressing?   I would really appreciate an answer to the problem and not sarcastic remarks by the responder.

I would recommend making sure your program is updated and trying again.

If you are using the desktop version of the software, try the following to update your software:

    1. Select the Online menu at the top
    2. Then select Check for Updates.

Once you have updated your software, try filing again.  You will either get a message saying your return was accepted or rejected.  Please see this link for steps to check your e-file status.

If the return is rejected, please refer to this link for guidance to fix a rejected return.

@Katrj   What Turbo Tax are you using?  The Online version or the Desktop installed program?  What fee or service are they asking you to pay?  The only fee in the Desktop program should be the $25 to efile a state return or you can print and mail state for free.

Well it hasn't gotten any better this year, they OBVIOUSLY don't listen to their customers. They are so focused on pushing their ads and additions, that their software SUCKS. I just got rid of ALL my QuickBooks accounts because of glitches, delays and crashes. Even the customer service person I had to talk to to close my accounts acknowledged that they are seeing and hearing this exact same issue. I tried to download last year's taxes (have been using TurboTax for over 10 years) and it can't find my documents, every screen I go to, I have to bypass a stupid upsell and have wasted an hour trying to get them downloaded.

Very last year I will buy TurboTax.

To access your prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Start the 2024 online tax return by entering some personal information then click on Tax Home on the left side of the screen.

On the Tax Home webpage -

Scroll down to the section Your tax returns & documents.  Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF) or Click on View adjusted gross income (AGI)

If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created.  TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.

Or go to this IRS website for free federal tax return transcripts - https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

For a fee of $30 you can get a complete federal tax return from the IRS by completing Form 4506 - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf

I already did that, for 2023 and the documents are not there.

I should have access to them without having to go to the Federal government site, since I want access to the state too. Your comments just reiterate that Intuit does not listen to their customers

I had similar trouble. I've used turbotax for 10 years. Lots of trouble this year. On Review of my Federal Return there was a problem I could not fix. It was late and there was no one to help me. The site would not let me e-file with the problem so I had to print the returns for mailing in. Pretty dissapointed with this result.
