Two w2 forms, same Employer FED IDs but different Employer State IDs

I'm a family caregiver for my dad and mom, and I receive two W2 forms (one for my dad and the other for my mom). The forms have the same Employer FED IDs in box b but different Employer's state ID no. in box 15 (both ids correspond to NJ though). I have added one W2 in turbotax and I added all the amounts from box 1 to 14 from both forms (as recommended in a similar post) but not sure what should I do about the state amounts (box 15-17). I tried to list the same state twice but it then shows an error mentioning that the state in box 15 should appear only once.

Not sure if this is ok or should both W2 forms as separate in turbotax?

You are on the right track.  Strange that the same employer has two different state ID's but that's ok as far as your tax filing goes.

Combine the boxes 15-20 for the same state into one line and use one of the state ID numbers. That state ID number does not affect your tax calculations.  That ID number is between the state and the employer and the actual form W2 has already been filed by your employer for those records.

For your tax returns as long as the total state income and taxes are reported on your tax forms you are good; the source employer is not a factor.
