Unemployment

I received unemployment in 2020 and when I filed my taxes I didn't do an unemployment form effectively not claiming my unemployment. I wasn't sure what to do then I heard about the unemployment forgiveness under $10,000 so now I don't know if I need to amend my return to claim it or just leave it he since it falls under the forgiveness amount. Thank you

In this situation your actual tax will not change. You will have an addition to income and an equal exclusion for the unemployment income. If you prepared your return using TurboTax, you can go and prepare an amended return so that you have the correct information on the return. You can paper file the amended return to avoid an IRS notice.
