I filed and recieved my federal tax refund before the Unemployment Refund was signed into order. I never recieved my additional refund. Should I still be looking for this to hit my account?

The IRS is still processing adjustments due to the unemployment income exclusion. If your household income was less than $150,000 and you filed before the American Rescue Plan Act was passed, then you would be eligible for the exclusion of federal tax on the first $10,200 of unemployment income. Depending on whether your state adopted the federal exclusion, you may be eligible for a state refund as well. Thirteen states did not adopt the exclusion.

No Missouri is not one of the 13. The state of Missouri is following the American Rescue Plan Act for the exclusion of a maximum of $10,200 ($20,400 for married couples) of unemployment compensation from the federal adjusted gross income. Therefore, Missouri is ensuring this portion of unemployment compensation will not be subject to income tax. However, the federal income threshold of $150,000 also applies on the Missouri return.

Unlike the IRS, Missouri requires that an amended return be filed to reflect the reduction to federal adjusted gross income.
