Update Problem

I've been trying to update Turbo Tax for 3 days with no luck.  My last try, a few minutes ago, was manual and that didn't work either.  I can't file if it won't update & do not want to print & mail especially since i already paid to file my state return.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

I assume you have a download/desktop version. What solved the problem for me was to uninstall and reinstall the program. My data was intact after the reinstall.

Thanks!  I'll try that in the morning.  I was afraid I'd loose everything.  Glad to hear I won't

Same problem here. Been working on it for over 3 hours, 2 hours  with a Turbo Tax Rep. Same old BS. If they can't support their product any better than this, I may have to move on to another company. I have had Turbo Tax for more than 15 years and they are about to lose me.

I had the same problem with Windows 11 64 bit OS. Resolved by downloading and installing 2022-03 cumulative update for Windows 11. After the windows update download and installed (took approx 10 minutes), I opened TurboTax Premier which immediately went to the update option and processed cleanly when selected. Good luck.

tried every possible step provided by everybody out here.

Windows 10 and Turbo Tax Home and Business 2022 windows desktop edition

I used control-alt-delete to access task manager, then selected and ended the Window Installer program it said was running. I then opened Turbotax 2022 again and it installed the updates. Hope this helps.

I think you've been helped, but for anyone else, I had a problem that TT Business would not update on my Win 10 laptop.  I tried to update manually per the below link.  This did not seem to work until I updated my Windows.  There were several pending updates and once I finished them and did the manual update per the attached link, the auto updater worked.  Good luck!

  1. Uninstall all the prior versions of TT desktops(prior years).
  2. Update your Windows - all the .Net security updates.
  3. If not, try installing in a new laptop/desktop. For me this step worked. All the new ones are having Windows 11 and it's working fine(there are no prior versions of TT desktop  on that).
  4. I tried every possible solution like changing TMP and TEMP etc....but nothing else worked.

I would try the following.

1) Make sure windows (assuming it not a mac) updates are all fully installed.

2) Make sure your computer's time and date are correct.

3) Go to a browser and make sure you intuit account works (I mean just log in to test your username and password.)

4) Run turbo tax by right clicking it and selecting run as administrator from the popup menu.

If All else fails, create a tax folder on your desktop and save your federal and state taxes there. Turbotax has already saved the files but this is your insurance backup. After saving the files, uninstall and reinstall Turbotax in case the application is corrupted.
