Updating 2020 return with amended 2019 return

I realized after starting my 2020 return (and transferring data from my 2019 return) that I needed to amend my return for 2019. Is there a way to update my 2020 return with the amended return, or do I need to start over? I haven't submitted my 2019 amended return or my 2020 return yet.

Clear and start over if the change would alter what was reported in 2020. If you are dropping a dependent from 2019 to 2020, there would be no need to clear and start over. Simply update 2020.

If 2020 will be impacted significantly, then be sure to file the amended 2019 return before submitting 2020.

The only way to amend 2019 is to use the CD/Download. The TurboTax Online program has been updated for the 2020 tax rules already. For instructions, see: How do I amend a 2019 return in TurboTax?

Thank you. I already had the download from 2019, so I was able to use that to amend the return. I just started over with 2020, so need to re-enter some data (not a big deal, but I was hoping I could just substitute the amended return instead of the previously filed one.)
