Question

Using turbo tax, i'm wondering what the blended tax rate is and why it went from 11.4 in 2018 to 20.4 this year but I made less and my taxable income is less too.

Once you have paid your TurboTax fees for the current year, you can print or preview a PDF of your tax return with all the supporting worksheets.  Or, if you are using the TurboTax Download/CD version, you can find the worksheets you need in Forms mode (icon on top right, blue bar).

One of those worksheets is a Two-Year Comparison that is a side by side comparison of 2018 and 2019 income, deductions, and taxes.  Another is the Tax History Report that makes essentially the same comparison for up to 5 previous years.

You can use those worksheets, in combination with the IRS tax tables from page 15 of the PDF at this website, to figure out why your taxes and effective tax rate changed from 2019 to 2019.

Click here for instructions on how to print or preview your 2019 tax return before you file.
