Using turbo tax went to E file and wasn’t accepted due to a duplicate. We haven’t filed anything pre iously

Did you use the non filer TurboTax or IRS portal to register for the stimulus payment? If you did, a tax return with 0 income was efiled for you. That efiled return will now require you to print and mail a return to get it accepted.

In this situation, you would normally be required to prepare and mail an amended return 1040X. Most of us think that you can just complete your "real" original return form 1040 and write "Amended Return" across the top and mail it to the IRS without having to prepare the 1040X. Use the filing instructions printed with your return to know what to include and where to mail the return. 

Unfortunately the IRS is currently not processing any mailed returns so there is no way to know how long it will take to get it processed.
