Venmo 1099-k report

I’m working on my tax filing and I have a confusion about filling 1099-k.

I’m employed by a chiropractor's office and work as W-2 but I have gotten some tips from patients by Venmo for over $600 last year.

My Venmo is not a business account, so I’ve had not a 1099-k report from Venmo, (they provide 1099-k reports to only business accounts) Venmo suggests downloading CVS files but I can’t upload the CVS files because of an error that I don't know why. Should I type or file manually by paying to upgrade TurboTax? Is there anyone who has the same issue as me?

Please help.

Thank you.

It is relatively easy to enter your tips received and not previously reported in TurboTax but they will be subject to self-employment tax so you would need to upgrade to the Deluxe version of TurboTax to properly complete your return.  You will not need to upgrade to the Home & Business version as just adding income subject to SE tax can be entered in the Deluxe version.  When you enter your information the program will advise you that you must upgrade so answer yes when that screen shows.

If you are using TurboTax online you can start at the Federal Wages & Income screen then follow these steps:

    1. Click on Wages & income if you have not already done so
    2. Scroll all the way down to "Less Common Income" and click on the down arrow
    3. Click on Start, the last item for Miscellaneous income
    4. Click on Start at Other income not already reported on a form W-2 or 1099
    5. Click on the circle for "Yes" at did you receive any other wages and then continue
    6. Click on "Continue" until you arrive at the Any Other Earned Income page and answer yes, then continue
    7. Click in "Other", then Continue
    8. Enter a description, probably should use "Tips" as a proper identifier and then enter the amount and then click on "Done"
    9. You will return to the Miscellaneous Income screen so click Continue
    10. You should now have returned to the income summary page and your tips should now be included in your income as subject to self employment tax
