Question

Vine taxes on $0 income as income rather than self employed

Here is my situation. I'm a 66 y/o 100% disabled military member that is also drawing social security (I believe my SSI turned to regular SS at 65).

My question, even though I'll be sent a 1099-nec from Amazon Vine, can I claim this as Other Income instead of self employment compensation, essentially treating the nec as a misc?

Income from Amazon Vine is generally considered self employment income requiring a Schedule C. But you can deduct expenses such as a percent of internet costs as well as medical premiums including Medicare if otherwise eligible.
