Question

Virginia State tax releif 2018

We file a joint return and Virginia is our state of residence.   Last year Virginia sent every taxpayer $110 (in our case $220) due to the VA Gen Assembly passing a law creating the taxpayer relief fund.  The state did not send anything for this tax year regarding this payment.  Where (if anywhere) does this go on our Fed return?

Any help would  be appreciated, thanks

If you received a Form 1099-G from Virginia for your state tax refund amount that you received after filing your 2018 Virginia state return, then the amount of your state tax relief check ($220) has already been included with that Form 1099-G.  You do not need to make a separate entry for your state relief check.

See the following for more information:  Virginia Form 1099-G
