My W2 fed withholding box 2 is underreported from what is listed on my last pay stub. These numbers don’t match.
how do I verify what is the correct fed withholding amount. (marrying filing jointly)

First, make sure that your last pay stub does not include income from 2022. If it is all from 2021, you can contact your employer for an explanation. If it is incorrect, he needs to issue you a corrected W-2.

Will double check but let’s say they are all from the 2021 calendar year.
Am I incorrect in thinking that those boxes should be equal and match?

No, not necessarily.  Depending on payroll schedules, overlapping weeks, and additional new year dates included in the past cycle there may be differences, but it should be reasonably close.

I suggest you contact HR, or your payroll department to put your concern to rest.
