W2 states same amount of income for two states. this is therefore doubling that amount in my home state gross income. does w2 need to be corrected?

No. It sounds like you are living in one state and working in another state. In such cases, there is usually a screen in your home state tax section asking which W-2 you want to use and which you want to exclude so only one income is taxed.

 

You need both state lines because you are filing out a resident and nonresident tax form.
