Question

We received the second stimulus check on 1/4/2021. Should it be included in the 2020 tax return? TurboTax is asking how much received. Is this question for 2020 only?

No. Include your first and second stimulus check amounts on your 2020 income tax return even if you received your second Economic Impact Payment in 2021. The first and second stimulus amounts are handled on the 2020 income tax return. The third payment will be handled on the 2021 return.

The IRS sent out the payments so it knows how much you should have received. Any mismatches will delay the processing your return and getting your refund.
