We support our daughter ,age 22, college student. TT gives AOTC of $ 2500 if we do not claim her as dependent. Should we say we have no dependent on our tax return ?
On our tax return, Turbotax specifically asks us if we have any dependents. IF we misrepresent this question for the American Opportunity tax credit, will there any issues? How does Turbotax give AOTC to a dependent ? Is there a flaw? Please advise thanks
