What fee? The IRS does not charge you a fee to assign a Tax ID number. Where were you charged for a tax ID?

I went on line to obtain a tax ID# from the IRS. I then had to pay for it. I have an email confirmation and paperwork. It sounds like I paid a 3rd party for nothing. Which is weird I went to the IRS website.

Sounds like you were scammed somehow. The IRS does not charge a fee for a Tax ID.
