IND-165-01 error code. Form 8862 must be present in the return. The e-File database indicates the taxpayer must file Form 8862 to claim Child Tax Credit or Other Dependent Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit after disallowance.

Enter 8862 in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to 8862

Follow these steps to add Form 8862 to your taxes.

Sign in to your TurboTax account and click Continue your return.
Click Search in the upper right-hand corner and search for 8862.
Select the first result: Jump to 8862.

Now you are at the beginning of the Earned Income Credit.

Continue on the first two screens and stop when you see Do any of these uncommon situations apply?
Check the box that says, I got an IRS notice saying that I can only claim the Earned Income Credit if I file an 8862 and Continue.
Select Done, but hang on, there are a few more steps to go.
Answer the question about your IRS notice.

I am receiving the same message Reject Code 165-01. I have spoken with several agents for the walkthrough, and I received the same reject code yesterday. Can someone please help me and explain or share what you did or what I should do?

My return rejected multiple times as well until I made sure the correct boxes were checked on form 8862. You can't just check one box for EIC if you are also claiming the Child Tax Credit/Additional child Tax Credit etc.

It will only want to check one box. You have to go through and answer the questions in the system regarding this form in each of the sections that ask you questions regarding each credit.

I am having this exact issue even had 2 experts walk me through and I am still getting rejected what is going on what do I do?

I'm still receiving the error code IND-165-01. I was previously told the issue was being resolved and as you can see above we are all getting the same directions but it still rejects regardless. I've done this around 15 times since January and I'm at the point of using HR block if this isn't resolved in the next day or so.
